The Tanzania currency is the schilling. The conversion is about $1 USD to 1,300 schillings.
All of your major expenses are covered in your trek and/or safari package. Credit cards are only accepted at major hotels and shops so you will want to bring some cash for souveniers, bar beverages, sodas, phone calls and other entertainment. US dollars are accepted everywhere. Small bills are easier to use and always appreciated.
